Five-valleys cycling trip from / to St. Pölten
Discover Lower Austria from the saddle in leisurely cycling stages. Irrespective of the route you choose: St. Pölten is a great point to set out on cycling trips into the surrounding areas.
The city is located directly on the 111-kilometre-long Traisen Valley cycling route, one of the most popular cycling routes in the Mostviertel region. The family and pilgrimage cycling route runs from Traismauer through the Traisental-Donau wine region, takes in St. Pölten, Lilienfeld and St. Aegyd am Neuwalde and ends in Mariazell.
The 107-kilometre-long Ybbs Valley cycling route along the River Ybbs is the new highlight on the Mostviertel region’s comprehensive network of cycling routes. Everyone will find a place to fall in love with between the Rivers Ybbs and Erlauf. ‘Herzstück-Tour’ (‘Core Tour’) from Waidhofen / Ybbs – to Lake Lunz (mountain lake)
The cycling route through the 57-kilometre-long Pielach Valley starts where the River Pielach flows into the Danube at Melk. The cycling route mostly follows quiet roads through fields and meadows until it reaches Obergrafendorf. From there, it winds along the River Pielach from Ober-Grafendorf until it reaches its destination, which is the railway station in Loich.
The famous Danube cycling route runs for around 40 kilometres through the middle of the Wachau World Heritage Region. From Krems-Melk, it passes through idyllic wine villages and small towns, always with the Danube in sight! And it is, of course, possible to stop off at the ‘Heurige’, the wine taverns, to enjoy rustic meals and taste the local wines.
The Kamptal cycling route is around 41 kilometres long and takes cyclists from Rosenburg to Krems. Scandinavian flair in the middle section, Mediterranean flair in the lower course of the River Kamp: scenic variety and cultural settings transform this cycling route into a special experience.
