Details for: stp Route #11 Tulln Danube region
Brief description
A road bike route through history and nature
Description
The 88-kilometre route with only 350 meters of elevation gain leads through the Tulln Danube region and offers an ideal mix of a relaxed ride and fascinating landscapes. The route starts in St. Pölten and leads along the cycle path to Pottenbrunn, past the moated Wasserburg Castle and Sitzenberg Castle. The route continues along the Danube and offers interesting views of the historic Zwentendorf nuclear power plant, which never went into operation after its completion, but became known as a symbol of the energy policy of the 1970s. The route continues along the Danube into the Wachau with Göttweig Abbey, which towers majestically over the valley and towns such as Paudorf and Meidling. Lake Viehofner See at the end of the route offers the perfect opportunity to stop for a break and cool off. With its flat topography, this route is particularly suitable for leisure cyclists and anyone looking for a tour with a varied landscape and historical character.
