In the Footsteps of Franz Schubert: At the Schuberthaus on Rathausgasse, a modern memorial room commemorates the composer’s stay in St. Pölten in 1821. Schubert was a guest of the bishop and composed parts of his opera *Alfonso und Estrella* at Ochsenburg Castle. A Schubertiade held at the home of Baron von Münk is also part of this history.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a magnificent fortepiano from Schubert’s time.
