Summer in St. Pölten

When the city comes to life again

As the first warm rays of sunshine appear, St. Pölten shows itself at its most charming. Cafés open their outdoor seating areas, the parks begin to blossom, and the historic old town once again invites visitors to take a leisurely stroll.

Nature and exercise

A walk around the Viehofner Lakes or Lake Ratzersdorf is particularly lovely in spring. Nature is coming to life, and joggers and cyclists are making the most of the mild temperatures. The green spaces around the government district or along the River Traisen also offer ideal conditions for a relaxing afternoon outdoors.

Culture and Discoveries

The Baroque old town surrounding St. Pölten Cathedral and St. Pölten’s Town Hall Square is the perfect setting for a spring guided tour. The Museum Niederösterreich combines natural history and regional history – making it particularly fitting for this time of year.

Cuisine and indulgence

The outdoor dining season is now upon us. All around the city centre, cafés invite you to enjoy coffee and pastries al fresco. At the weekly market on Domplatz, visitors will find fresh vegetables, regional produce and seasonal specialities.

Our recommendations for your visit

Spring is the perfect time for a culture-and-nature package: a guided city tour in the morning, a visit to the market at lunchtime, a walk by the lake in the afternoon, and a cultural outing in the evening, followed by a nightcap at one of the town’s excellent restaurants.
