The meeting point and end point for all guided tours is the Town Hall Square in front of the Tourist Information Centre.

For groups of 40 or more, the group must be split into smaller groups.
All prices are exclusive of any admission fees or additional costs (e.g. tour guide systems, coach hire, etc.).

Guided tour of the Old Town

2,000 years of the town’s history up close

On this guided tour lasting around 1½ hours, you’ll explore the historic city centre of St. Pölten. The tour covers everything from the town’s Roman origins, through its medieval expansion, to its Baroque heyday. As well as magnificent façades and charming squares, you’ll also discover impressive Art Nouveau architecture and learn the stories hidden behind the town’s walls.

Old Town & Government District

Historic centre meets modern provincial capital

St. Pölten is not only Austria’s oldest town, but also its newest provincial capital. Following its designation as a provincial capital in the 1990s, the modern government district emerged, featuring striking architecture and the cultural quarter.

This guided tour, lasting around two hours, vividly illustrates the fascinating contrast between the historic city centre and the contemporary administrative and cultural centre – a captivating dialogue between past and present.

Terms and Conditions & Cancellation Policy

  • Participation in all guided tours is at your own risk. No liability is accepted for accidents or damage.
  • Guests are obliged to comply with the Highway Code and all applicable legal regulations, and to supervise minors. Guests must follow the instructions of the tour guide.
  • If a customer is late, the guide will wait for 15 minutes at the agreed meeting point; this waiting time will be included in the duration of the tour.
  • The customer also undertakes to wait 15 minutes for the guide in the event of a delay.
  • Should a guide be unable to attend, a suitable replacement will be arranged.
  • In the event of cancellation due to force majeure, there is no entitlement to the tour taking place or to reimbursement of travel or accommodation costs.
  • Cancellation is free of charge up to 72 hours before the tour begins.
  • For cancellations up to 48 hours before the start, 50 per cent of the agreed fee will be charged.
  • For cancellations made later than this, the full tour price is due.
