Description

The Museum am Dom is now housed on the second floor of the former Augustinian canons' monastery in St. Pölten and also includes the monastery library. The collection is diverse and displays altars, sculptures and paintings as well as a large selection of liturgical textiles and vessels, which can be seen in the treasury and parament chamber. The museum also has design sketches for the Baroque remodeling of the present cathedral church from the 18th century, which can be viewed in the episcopal oratory during guided tours. Since 2010, the art collection of the English Misses of St. Pölten (Congregatio Jesu) has also been on permanent loan to the museum. Annual exhibitions shed light on various themes of sacred art in a modern way.
