Description

AnArt Nouveau jewel in the heart of the city, the Olbrich/Stöhr House in Kremser Gasse 41 is the most magnificent Art Nouveau building in St. Pölten. Built in 1899 by the famous architect Joseph Maria Olbrich - a co-founder of the Vienna Secession - for primary school teacher Hermann Stöhr, the building fascinates with its ornate façade decoration and the mortar relief "Medicine" by Ernst Stöhr. Ridiculed in its day as the "House of the Chinese Legation", today it is considered an architectural highlight of the city.
