Description
The Sparkassenpark in St. Pölten was designed by the well-known Viennese garden architect Lothar Abel in the style of English landscape gardens. The basic structure has been preserved to this day. The over 19,000 m² park serves as a nature, information and recreation area as well as a valuable eco-island in the inner-city area. It is characterized by a network of natural and horticulturally maintained areas. Visitors can relax here or find out about plants and plant combinations. The apothecary garden with proven Austrian medicinal plants and culinary herbs and a show garden for traditional Chinese medicine plants are very special. These include, for example, the goji berry, the Chinese date and the mulberry. The plants are grouped according to their therapeutic properties in TCM. All the plants are labeled. Guided tours of the park are offered by the city of St. Pölten on a regular basis.
