St. Pölten “Klangturm” (Tower of Sound)
Lookout tower, Scenic lookout
Description
The Klangturm rises as an architectural highlight in St. Pölten's government district. Designed by Ernst Hoffmann, he describes his building as a "symbol of imagination at the heart of the administration" - a contrast of creativity and function. With a height of 77 meters, the tower almost reaches the St. Pölten Cathedral and dominates the cityscape as a landmark.
Despite its massive structure made of 650 tons of steel and around 1,000 square metres of glass, the building appears surprisingly light and transparent. On a footprint of just 15 x 15 meters, the filigree construction rises airily into the sky.
Inside, 280 steps or a panoramic lift lead to the viewing platform at a height of 47 meters, which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the city, government district, cultural district and surrounding countryside. In addition, several sound installations and an information center invite visitors to explore.
Free admission - but only during seasonal operation (note winter closure)!
