Description
The 33-kilometre circular route takes you through the Traisental wine country from Herzogenburg northwards through the wine villages to Hollenburg and along the Danube and Traisen via Traismauer back to Herzogenburg.
The cycle path leads past vineyards and orchards, through villages with old village centers and offers beautiful views of the Tullnerfeld and the Traisental. Numerous wine taverns and inns invite you to linger. Bathing lakes, the Aquapark adventure pool and many rest areas and playgrounds can be found along the cycle path. Those interested in culture should plan a detour to the prehistoric museum in Nußdorf,Traismauer Castle, Walpersdorf Castle or the magnificent Augustinian monastery in Herzogenburg.
You can also choose any starting point along the circular route - preferably directly at a wine tavern, where you can reward yourself with a delicious snack and a glass of wine at the end of the tour.
The route is mostly flat with a few gentle climbs. Thanks to its connections to the cycle path network in the Traisental wine region , there are many other opportunities for enjoyable cycle tours.
Note on signposting: between Herzogenburg and Hollenburg the route is signposted as "WEINBERGWEG", from Hollenburg you cycle downstream on the Danube cycle path and change to the Traisental cycle route in Traismauer back to Herzogenburg.

Route description Traisental vineyard cycle path - path of pleasures
A good starting point is Herzogenburg, directly at the Augustinian Canons' Abbey Herzogenburg. The path leads through small villages and vineyards directly past Walpersdorf Castle, through wine and fruit gardens then continues via Inzersdorf and Getzersdorf to Reichersdorf, where a small detour to the living cave enriches the route.
Via Nussdorf ob der Traisen, where the Nussdorf Prehistoric Museum invites you to stay longer, and the small Heurigen village of Neusiedl, you reach Hollenburg. From here, follow the Danube Cycle Path downstream to Traismauer, where you switch to the Traisental Cycle Path and follow it south back to Herzogenburg.
