Cathedral Museum (Museum am Dom)

Extensive collection of sacred art of all periods

The oldest Diocesan Museum in Austria, founded in 1888, is located right next to the Cathedral in the historic rooms of the former Augustinian monastery and includes the monastery library.

"The Museum am Dom" (cathedral square) is now on the 1st floor of the abandoned Augustinian monastery of St. Pölten and also includes its monastery library.

The collection is extremely diverse and, in addition to altars, sculptures and paintings, also includes a large number of liturgical textiles (paraments) and liturgical vessels (chalices, monstrances, etc.), which are presented in the treasury and parament chamber.

In the course of annual exhibitions, a wide variety of sacred art themes are dealt with and presented in a contemporary manner.
