Feldmühle Nature Trail Loop
Hiking tour Starting from Parking lot at the intersection of Feldmühleweg and Ligusterweg
Between Mühlbach and Traisen north of Ratzersdorfer See lake, the wilderness in the alluvial forest can be intensely felt. In the floodplain of the Traisenau, you can admire the beauty of the yellow water lily from the footbridge and observe tree frogs and water frogs.The area impresses with its species-rich flower meadows, which provide a habitat for a wide variety of butterflies and beetles without the use of sprays or late mowing. To the north is a mighty elm tree, which was declared a natural monument in 1997.
Free parking is available at the intersection of Feldmühleweg and Ligusterweg. From there, the trail leads over a bridge across the Mühlbach into the “St. Pölten Natural Gem.” After passing the Feldmühle, continue straight ahead, past the signposted trees and plants.
At the fork in the path, keep left, continue between the field and the riparian forest, and cross a footbridge to reach the observation deck, from which you can spot numerous bird species. Then take the stairs up to the embankment, turn right, and walk along the Traisen River.
After about 575 meters, the trail turns right into the riparian forest and continues to the flower meadow, which you’ll walk around clockwise. Passing a pond, the trail leads through the riparian forest back to the fork in the path, across the bridge, and finally back to the parking lot.

Via the A1 West Highway, St. Pölten-Nord exit
LUP Bus – from the main train station, take Line 3 to the Ginstergasse stop (350 m to the starting point) or the Anton Kleiss-Gasse stop (750 m to the starting point)
